Upgrading my laptop.

Hi,

I'm looking forward to updrage my laptop's video card, i have Sony Vaio PCG-K33, these are my laptop's current specs:

According to "Display Settings" i'm on a Radeon IGP 345M, i once read "some laptop's don't use videocards but "chips", others do."

Would i be able to upgrade mine? I want to buy a more powerful card such as a RADEON® 9800, X700/800.

Thanks for your help, im a complete newbie on hardware.
 
Sadly that's the truth, only a select few gaming laptops will allow you to exchange gfx cards. If you need a performance boost, update your drivers, add more ram, and if load times are bad get a 7200rpm hard drive if it isn't already. Those can be upgraded at least. Almost all laptop mobo's have the graphics chipset integrated directly into the board, there's no AGP/PCIe slot to place a new graphics card into unfortunately.
 
Well, laptop video cards aren't something you will see in stores, so you gotta give SONY a call. See if in the laptop manual there is a number to call for peripherals or spare parts and ask there is a grahics card you can purchase for your laptop. Offhand, I have to say if your laptop uses a chipset rather than a card, you might not be able to upgrade :x: .
