Urgent help needed!

Hey everybody,

Every time i start a PC game on my computer, the screen freezes - with funny rainbow like colors across the screen and blotches of gray. This happens within seconds of the game starting. I've had this problem before however that time it was with playing any type of video on the internet, i fixed this problem by disabling the "Flash hardware accelerator," and I've never had a problem since. However i do not know if there is a way to do this with games. I've come to the conclusion that there must be something wrong my my graphics driver, currently i'm running a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT. I've updated all it's drivers and the problem is still occurring, leaving me a bit clueless as to what to do. I have recently bought a new monitor LG Flatron W2486L, before i bought it i had never experienced anything like this, however i have played some games with my new monitor, so i doubt that this could be the problem.

Besides my graphic card i'm running

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.6 GHz 2.00GB RAM

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How much memory you have in your video card?

First of all, remove the current Nvidia graphics driver. Afterwards you can use Driver Sweeper to clean any leftovers which haven't been uninstalled.
Then install the latest Nvidia graphics driver.

If that doesn't solve the problem, it has to be an issue with the graphics card itself.

I second RHochstenbach and after you've done that, try to run some benchmarking (3dmark, furmark), cause this rainbow stuff might very well be artifacts a.k.a. your GPU could be dying.
