US E-Tailers that ship internationaly

I live in South Africa and we dont have half the selection of stuff that you in the US have. Also your prices are rediculously low even if reasonable shipping is applied

Are there any Reputable US E-tailers that will take international orders.

Just remember that 1 American dollar doesn't equal 1 dollar in your currency. From what I can gather with the currency converter is that 1 US Dollar is equivalent to a little over 7 of your Rands. Also, I'm sure that simply due to volume, there's some savings somewhere in there.

Amazon.com is the only company I can think of that ships internationally.

trust me. absolutely every literate south african knows about rand dollar conversions. Its on our news and people are constantly talking about how weak the Rand is. Its about 13 rands to the pound! and yeah is is about 7and some change to the dollar.

I realise that ill have to buy in dollars and convert. but the reason i asked was because of product availibility and the savings (even after conversion) are a secondary bonus.

I wouldnt buy overseas for savings alone because it would be risky because if i had to return the product if its DOA then ill end up paying more.

I sent an email to newegg asking the same thing and they dont ship internationally. There is some comlication that prevents this.

Wasn't sure what you were aware of. Newegg doesn't even ship to Canada, but I believe they do ship to military personnel. If you did happen to know some US military guys, that'd be a loophole, but I don't even think we have any troops in SA.

I don't know if you've Googled it, but I ran a search for South African computer shops and came up with this. I don't know how it compares with local stuff, but if they're like a lot of online shops in the US, it's probably a bit cheaper than the local shops.

I started to look around, and I found that TigerDirect does ship internationally. They're not my first choice, as they've had some issues in the past, but still might be worth a shot.
Another one I found, and have never dealt with before is ExcaliberPC.

(Yes, I know I've linked to the FAQ's.)

We do have good shops but nothing like the US shops. I use online shops exclusively now because they offer the same this as local shops exept with more choice and at a cheeper rate.

I was just curious about the possibility of using american shops because i did some quick calculations and even with a fairly high guestimate of shiping costs. the american shops come out much cheaper.

Thx B

I think you'll find that most don't. I don't know specifically why, but it could be more of a hassle with support and international shipping. Another possibility could factor in what profit they'd make. My guess is that it largely lies on profitibility for a company, and if it's not to their liking, they're not going to do it.
