Usb device not recongnized

Hello,

I got this problem 2 day ago - "usb device not recognized". My usb ports suddenly stopped to work. I thought that it might be worn out but even the ports which i didnt used before gave the same message .

I tried reistalling the usb-root-hubs but it didnt help. I reinstalled the drivers from the cd but again nothing . Switched off the pc and plugged the cable out and wait some mins -nothing.

When the pc is not working my mouse has the red light under but when i turn it on it is off. Are my usb ports dead or is there sth that i can do?

I got my old Ps/2 keyboard and mouse . It was fine for some days but now they dont work too .

Any suggestions what the problem can be ?
 
this indicates a problem in the mobo. maybe a short circuit or faulty cable. have a technician take a look at it. how old is the mobo by the way?
 
Yes , i think it is the motherboard too. It is not recognizing any SD cards or what ever. The motherboard should be about 5-6 year old.
