Video Card Suggestions

Hi, as a new user to Pc's I am reliant on your expertise. I have just bought a LCD Tv with a DVI - HDMI connection and need to connect my Pc through it to save on space. The video card I have the moment is a NVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5200, and I have seen the GeFORCE FX5500 256MB DDR AGP DVI VO for £41.11, and it states it has DVI for monitor support. Firstly is this card any good? and will it be easy enough to just swop the cards over?

Cheers.

What do you plan on doing with the card? gaming? general use, video/picture editing? If it's just general use then that card will be fine, if you want to game and do more advanced more graphic intensive tasks then a slightly better card might be good.

Is it easy to change? and I imagine it has the DVI out connector for the TV? even though it only has 128mb, it's better than the 256mb?

Cheers.

Yes its pretty easy as long as you have the correct slot in your motherboard (AGP 8x). If I'm talking about the same DVI then yes it does have a DVI port.

Where do I look to find out if I have the right connection and if it's compatible? Do I need a certain Motherboard etc to use specific cards.

Download [google]CPU-Z[/google] and it should tell you your motherboard. Find the model number and post it here.

ASUSTeK computer Inc. model no. A7V8X-X, chipset VIA KT400 (VT8377).
I think thats right, not used a prog like that before, quite useful...
Thanks.

yeah when you get the new one, remove old drivers for your current FX5200, turn off computer (and unplug), change cards, plug back in, power on and install new drivers.
