Which is better? Ad-ware 6.0 Pro or Windows Defender

I have Lavasoft-Adware 6.0 Pro and Microsoft-Windows Defender. Does anybody know which program works the best or is it good to run both. Please help if you can. Thank You.
 
ad-aware is good, but ive never heard of windows defender. but it is worth considering downloading spybot, ad-aware and spybot are like the two amigos, dynamic duos. etc... yeah, it's best if you run them three together, coz there is no perfect anti adware or spyware program
 
i think Window Defender is MS's attempt to clear all the crap they created (more security holes than a packet of polo's) ad-aware is good but even though it pains me to say it WD is made by MS so in theory WD should be better, but if i use Win i'll be using both WD & ad-aware
 
Windows defender is replacing the, in my opinion, very good MS Antispyware.

True to their bullying tackticks MS have decided to time limit the license for MSAS (which was distributed free of charge....WTF?). Once expiered, you can only install the newer version - Windows Defender which will not take any updates. To ebale the updates you need enable the windows automatic updates. Even when all is enabled, defender will not update. :swear:
I case you are wondering, no the fix from MS does not work, not for me anyway...

The short and sweet is, MS had a good product and they went and shited it.

As for your question - stick with what works! In this case Ad-Aware.
 
Windows Defender was first called Giant antispyware,MS bought them out only to go down the tubes like everything they touch. I have tried windows defender and it is no good.. Take a look at Ashampoo aniti spyware or the hitman or even
ewido.. Adaware is very good,But you will also need spybot search and destroy. There are allot of good aniti spyware out there,Besides Windows
Defender.. Also you have too really whatch Microsoft and others from spying on you..
Here are a couple more real good Antispyware,spyware doctor ,counterspy,and spyware sweeper.

AdAware is better, goes deeper than defender. Of course, you should never use only one Anti-Spyware software. I usually use Spybot, as well as AdAware, and I have few issues, even with Spybot giving the "caution" that it may conflict with AdAware. I have never had any conflicting issues...
 
Stick with Lavasoft Adaware!

Lavasoft is probably the best Spyware remover available. Windows Defender is horribly bloated and resource hungry.
 
Not read all the posts but all I can say is that I use ad-aware, spybot and pest patrol.

Ad-aware is the best for regular scans. Pest patrol will bring up loads of stuff so if you use it mind out you dont remove stuff you need. Spybot does occassionally get stuff the other two dont.

Ad-aware is definitly the best alrounder IMO
 
Well the best way to avoid Spyware (or viruses for that matter) is NOT to run as an Administrator.
 
free adware and spyware protection in my sig. they're the best FREE software around including avg btw. as long as you got no internet, you'll find it easier to avoid spyare and or adware than with internet:P
 
IMO I'd say adaware was much much better than windows defender..I couple it with spybot S&D too :)

Or use someone elses computer to go on the net, thats what I do :eek: Someone who doesnt care about the way it runs as long as it runs OE, word and excel without crashing.

avast is much better than AVG, although i've taken the leap away from MS, i would have to say Ad-aware is for me
