Will This Combo Work Together?

I'm looking to build a high end i7 machine and need help confirming compatibility with some parts. Will these parts all work together?

Mobo - INTEL BOXDX58SO intel x58 chipset ATX form factor 3xPCI-E(x16)/1xPCI-E(x1)/1xpci/6xddr3 w/sata2 raid,lan(gb),1394,esata,usb 2.0 & audio (cpu type:intel - socket i7)

CPU - INTEL Core i7 Extreme i7-975(BX80601975) 3.33ghz w/8mb cache socket 1366 retail boxed w/cooling fan

RAM - KINGSTON KHX12800D3K3/6GX 6gb kit (2gb x 3) match pair 1600mhz cl9 9-9-9-27 240-pin ddr3 dimm w/heat spreader

Now with the RAM I'm a little confused as to how many slots I have to fill. The Mobo says it can hold 16GB of RAM. And that's what I'd like to do. But how many slots are there to fill? What combo kit would be best to fill the Mobo? Is there a better RAM I should be looking at?

And lastly the video card I'm looking at is the XFX Geforce GTX295 1792mb 896bit gddr3 pci-e 2.0 (#GX295NHHFF)

So basically I'm wondering if all of these parts will fit together and be compatible or are the issues I should be aware of? Plus the RAM configuration that would be fill out the board.

I appreciate any input anyone might have as I'm new at this.

Getting 6GB of RAM would already be good enough, but feel free to add if you want. I assume you would also be doing heavy gaming because of the parts you've chosen. So far the parts that you chose will be compatible with each other and will do fine. Only thing is have you chosen your power supply yet (you would need a good one for these specs)? Those specs you chose can also get pretty hot so you would need a good cooling system. And what about your hard drive?
 
How much of a difference am I really going to see between a i7 920 and a i7 975? I'm not a gamer, not going to OC and am only using it for AE and C4D work. Is the $700 price difference really going to be that noticable in rendering/Open GL stuff? The 975 is going to require a lot more cooling too right?

Will it be a big performance difference?
 
All I can say is that if you are not going to use it for games, you can save that $700 and go with the core i7 920. What can i say.With $700 you can spend it on more computer parts and upgrades.
 
if you are not gaming then you do not need a gtx295. That is WAY over board. Get something cheaper, like a gtx 250, or 9800gtx, or similar.

More ram is helpful when it comse to what you will be doing, but anything over 12gb is ridiculas, anything over 8gb is not noticable for the most part even. Anyway, that board can handel 6 dims, so that means if you get 6x2gb ram modules then you will have 12gb of ram.
