Windows Vista

[ot]If you can figure out a way to make Windows a secure OS for a clueless user, you could be a billionaire. Hell, I'd like to know how you could make it secure enough even for a savvy user, especially with things like the WMF exploit floating around. Even if you use Opera, an AV, and a half-dozen anti-spyware apps, you can still get hit with this. [/ot]

[ot]True, luckily, we haven't gotten hit with it. But like I said, I agree with you. Windows in inherently flawed. [/ot]

I am will to bet you could make her computer so she could IM and check her e-mail, without getting malware, even in Windows. Windows is insecure. I'll be the first to admit it. That's reason numero uno for me learning Linux. However, I still have Windows on a partition. It has AVG, Zonealarm, Spybot, Adaware, and Spyware Blaster. It's a pain to set up, but I did it in an hour, and the computer now runs smoothly. Don't get me wrong AT, I fully agree with you.

It's not the point whether you can or cannot make Windows secure, it's the fact that you had to spend all that time, downloading and installing 3rd party programs, to get it to a secure state. Not only that, but those programs (such as on-access virus scanners) will be eating up resources you could have used in other programs

Where once they might have been innovators, the torch has now been passed to Linux

I must take that back! Microsoft have never been innovators! They have always been behind other software makers. Microsoft either copys other people's ideas, or simply buys them out and rebrands them! They didn't even make MS-DOS, they had to buy it from another company and simply rename it.

It's a disgrace that their products are so popular, most of Microsoft's products were someone elses ideas. Most of the new features in Vista were implimented in Linux years ago!

Even after all of this, i am still a Windows user by heart  .
Has Bill Gates got some hypnosis skills or what? Does he turn up to an event (such as the recent speech he made in Vegas) and start dangling his watch from side to side, repeating the words "you love Microsoft, you will always love Microsoft"?! :D

When your ontop, your bound to get your software critisised, It's the nature of competitive business.
Do i like Microsoft? NO. Do i like Linux? Yes. Do i use Windows? Yes, but only for games!
