might take me some time at an attemp for a server

i need to get my internets looked at, they've been less than half the normal speed lately

I'd love to be in ... but I'm horrendously busy with school these days. Just stayed up all night doing a retarded essay ... ugh. So I can be in but i'll probably be only able to participate on rare occasions

Sorry, what's a 'listen' server?

I guess I'll have to set up the server. I ordered a switch yesterday (which will greatly improve my network performance) and if it arrives before the weekend then I should be OK to do this.

My current network setup isn't as fast but I think i'll trial it later tonight. I'll get the server running about 8 o'clock (British Time). If it all works out, then we can play it for real over the weekend.

Look out for a server called 'HWF TEST'
I'll set the password to: hwftest

Basically, it's using someones computer as a server but also
serves the purpose of playing the game also.
So it's not a 'Dedicated' server.
Make sense?
 
Anyone know of any high speed, free servers to get ET from?
All the places i've tried have really slow connection speeds or i need to register.

I downloaded Wolfenstein from Fileshack

You should get a download speed of about 100kB/s but you've got to register. I just used my bogus 'jon benge' persona :D
 
Bad news: I can't get the server to work! I'm not entirely sure why either.

I don't have a direct connection to the internet. I connected though a router so maybe thats whats causing the problems.

Anyways, I am currently playing on server:

Just a quicky...

How do I talk in this game?

For example, how do I announce that I 'need a medic' or 'we need an engineer'!
 
To talk press V and then numbers corresponding to the phrase section on the 'pop-up' box.

Need a Medic = V, 2, 1,
Need Ammo = V, 2, 2,
Need Backup = V, 2, 3,
Need an Engineer = V, 2, 4,
Hello = V, 5, 4,
Good Bye = v, 5, 5,
Great Shot! = V, 5, 6,
Yes! = V, 5, 1,
No! = V, 5, 2,

Pressing V opens up the box, pressing the first number opens up that 'section' of phrases and the rest are use to 'navigate' and find the phrase you want.
(hope that helped, I can add some more phrase key presses if you want megamaced)
 
Yeah, i've heard a few really bizarre ones like the Batman theme tune and Queen's 'we are the champions'! :D
 
They're on the mods that people run. The server I play on had 'Grinches' as the Axis team at Christmas and everyone was wearing santa hats and throwing snowballs as grenades.
I don't know if the server you play on has it but:

!beer
!pizza
!coke

All typed into the chat box bring up different messages.

Also do you know how to PM someone?

It's "/m [username here] [message here]"

But without the "'s and [ ]'s

I don't stick to any one server. I am pretty bored of the default terrains so I am always searching around for new ones.

Yeah press T to do it (or you could press ` next to the 1 key)

That's the IP - it's pretty cool (DRI Elite n00bs - first server I played on and I've just stuck there :P), wanna play now?
 
So is it not possible to just plain say whatever u want for everyone to hear? Like u can in Battlefield 1942? In BF, u just hit K and type in whatever and hit enter and everyone currently playing sees it
