Won't Boot !

I have an 80gb samsung SP0802N IDE. The drive is recognised in the bios, and I am able to format and store files on it. The problem is, that I can only use it as a secondary drive because it will not boot.
I have used the w2k and xp recovery consoles and created a new boot sector and MBR... to no avail...
Any suggestions other than sending it back to Samsung ???
Thanks

Did you configure the jumpers properly?
yeah, and is the
  • boot order correctly set in the BIOS ?
  • is the drive detected as master or slave ?
  • or are you using C/SEL ?

But its still there ..... Still trying to hunt them but I think if you are using a monitor less than 17" then u might see those birds below the first picture. Is that the case with you?[/ot]

Yes to all of the above...
Although I have never tried using cable select, might be worth a shot.
