XP is glitching on me any advice?

Ok, I turned on my computer this morning and it is messed up. Programs open and appear in the start bar but the windows won't appear on the screen unless I maximize them. If the program windows appear at all they are off to the side, jammed up in a corner off screen so I can't move them.

I have tried running anti-virus and restarting the computer and it doesn't do anything. The only thing I have used my computer for recently is playing DVDs
Any help would be great, thx :D

I can't get the screen cap to work, what you would see is the task manager selected in the task bar but no window on the screen and will only appear if maximized. Sorry I'm not being very helpful :(
 
You aren't providing us with enough information. Try to elaborate as much as you can. Screenshots would be nice if you can get them. Just press the 'print screen' button on the keyboard.

And if print screen wont work, try taking a picture of the screen!
