Yo, new here.. first build

Yo, my name is Kyle, and im about to build my first computer. Im going with a mATX mobo w/ onboard video, this because its cheaper, and because i dont game anymore, but the mobo has a pci-e x16 slot if i ever want to game again. I'm getting everything new except for moniter and speakers. I am on a budget as you'll see, but I believe this computer will be great for what I will be using it for(email,itunes,msn,aim,online poker,school papers, everyday kind of things). I'm pretty sure everything is compatible and Im pretty sure I dont have to get any adapters. If you think I should change part, just lemme know, comments and suggestions are appreciated. Your case seems be normal ATX, not microATX so you'll need to change that. Other than that the components look fine.
 
Addis is right, however, you're likely to pay just as much, if not more, for a mATX case, and you really won't save much space over a smaller ATX tower like you have. Plus, if you want to get a full ATX motherboard in the future, you'll need to get a new case.

Other than that note, the setup looks good. I haven't personally used any Biostar motherboards before, although what little I've read is positive in terms of stability. For another $10, you can get the AX-450PN power supply, which has some extra grunt that you'd expect to see on units around or pricier than $100. That depends on what upgrades you think you'll do down the road, however, but it might be worth it to have the extra amperage provided. If not, that PSU you have is probably the best you can get for $40.
 
Nice choice in mobo yea I have a mid tower and similar board and its fits just fine and it leaves more space for the wires good overclocker

check best buy on the western digital hard drive if you have one in the area because i just got a 120gb hdd western digital for 59 bucks instant rebates 7200 rpm ata 100

You may want two 80mm fans so you can have better air flow one blowing air in and one blowing out

Thanks for the replies so far, I appreciate it. But I have a question, I'm aware that the case is ATX, but it says on the specs the mobo compatiblity is ATX and mATX. So wouldn't that allow me to still use this case w/ the mATX mobo?

Yes sorry if you want to use an ATX case and your motherboard is compatible then its ok, as B said it may be better if you're not all too bothered about saving a bit of space.
 
Alright, thanks for clearing that up, looks like everything is good to go, I'll be ordering the parts tomorrow(monday). Thanks for the replies everybody, I'll check back with you guys when my build is done or when I mess up and need some help :)

No. The amps on the Fortron AX400 are better, and provide dual-rails. I don't think there's any power supply besides that one that provide what the AX400 does. Hell, the AX450-PN offers dual 18A 12V rails for $50 which my $90 Enermax 535W does, and I know that Fortron makes good power supplies or I would've told him to drop it. Tha AX400 offers dual 15A 12V rails whereas that Thermaltake 430W offers a single 18A 12 rail. The AX400 offers more grunt than the Thermaltake one does.
 
Yooo! well i got my parts yesterday, and i started building everythign was going smoothly, and i have all my parts plugged in... but i have some problems...
1. In the manual it says place jumper caps? on certain pins? but i didnt recieve any jumper caps w/ the mobo
2. there are connecters labled HD audio and AC 97' that came w/ the case.. but i dont see where to plug them into the mobo the connecter looks like this...

xxxxx the "o" represents a lil white thing covering pin 2 of the connecter... and also on the mobo, it has 4 LED that when all light up, everything is good to go.. but for some reason LED_D1 and LED_D2 dont light up which in the mobo it means that there is a CPU/Chipset error?? but LED 3 and 4 light up which stand for voltage of memory is activtaed normally, and the system is ready for power-on.

any help would be wonderful.
 
Did you try taking the cpu out and heatsink then reseating them or If your screws on motherboard are tighten all the ways as tight as it can go loosen them all. Not to where the board will fall off but just enough to keep it up Ive had grounding issues with the skt 754 version myself.

When you turn on your computer does the screen show anything or is it black if so try my second suggestion.
