Good PSU. I like the specs of the motherboard but i ever had an ASRock motherboard and can't say they're great. Though they seem to have slipped into the industry and lots of users like em.

New RAM in my lappy - very flaky

Did you install the new memory along with the ones currently installed? When you install memory with different speeds, your system will run with the lowest speeds out of the two. So although you think you're running at 6400, your actually running at 5500. And if you bought something less than...

Whats your budget for the motherboard like? And yes, 650W is more than enough. I don't see any bottlenecking in sight; it's a good system ;).

    New Build MOBO/PSU Advice

Definitely necessary if you plan on overclocking. You want your temps to be around 30 idle and 60 during max load. Those are considered good temps. You can overclock whenever you feel the need to. Keep in mind that consistent overclocking reduces a cpu's longevity. By how much really depends...

    Sorry for this stupid question

If you plan on playing games then yes, get that card. Like i said, the type of connection you use won't affect gaming quality. The only difference is resolution size. HD resolutions don't come in 17-18 inch monitors though. Bear that in mind.

    New Build MOBO/PSU Advice

Welcome to HWF! Love the sandy bridge cpu, you've got more than enough memory, a nice case, and a great graphics card. Those will go great together. However, i don't suggest that Hard Drive, just because it's using an old SATA 2 connection when you could be using a SATA 3 connection at the same...

    Sorry for this stupid question

There are no stupid questions here at HWF ;) Welcome. The majority of monitors floating around the market have at least a DVI connection and most likely have an HDMI cable as well. The connection you use will not affect the quality of your games, besides resolution which is relative to your...

dell inspiron cpu and memory upgrade questions

Edit: I forgot to mention that when you do choose an upgrade to your CPU, you might have to flash the bios so that your system can detect the CPU. But taking a look at Dell's support site indicates that latest version is version 2.6.3, which you already have ;)

dell inspiron cpu and memory upgrade questions

Yep, so we can confirm you have an S1 socket. And we can also confirm that you must stay in the TL line for Turion and TK lines for Athlon. I ran into something interesting. The TL and TK lines are all S1g1 sockets, the g1 indicating Generation 1. The ZM, QL, and RM lines are S1g2 (generation...

    NEW Virus Alert!

True, it would take more time restoring the system back to normal. And if that's what you want to do you can use these steps. Otherwise, backing up and formatting is the fastest solution to remove this "rogueware".
