Hi could somone help me, i have a geforce 6800LE 256mb and was woundring if i could overclock it to get better fps in games well counter strike source which all i play lol thanks all.;)

Yea, use a program called ATi Tool, and use the find max core and find max memory and it will auto overclock.

Be carefull though, and watch the temperatures too, and you should be find :)

I agree with Willz - go and use ATItool. It has many very useful functions . But you can also useCool bits 2, which unlocks the hidden overclocking abilities in your forceware drivers.

Yea, I have a Nvidia 8800GTS, I still use ATi Tool :p, its for all ATi and Nvidia cards.

i have clicked on find max core and the little 3d thing on the left is gettin like yellowdots an stuff in it also the gpu's temp is 79 C:confused:

Ok, put everything back to stock speeds, now run the 3d view thing on the left, make sure you have no OSD stuff running like fraps too, still getting yellow dots and stuff?

no i tryed my games and they worked without any graphic problems its only when i run the test for maximum speed for core and memory i get the yellow dots after a while the demo started goin crazy all spikes an stuff will it stop its self or will i have to abort it ?

Yea, when you open the 3DView thing in ATi Tools you get artifacts? if you get it whilst on maximum core and memory, that means your card cant be a good overclocker if it does it straight away, and by the sounds of it, with those temperatures, looks like its the case.

no it didnt show that stuff at first it did about 10 mins lator tho i left it running and then it started doing it

Ok, well it means you need the core clock or memory clock lowering, you should always stay at the computer when itsa running dont go away and leave it.

so what do i do ? do i stop it at a certain point ? (abort) ????

Yea you stop when the yellow crap appears, and lower your clocks slightly, and test, same for core and memory.

@Izzy

Huh, I have never had an X1900 series card :s, last card was an X800XTPE, got the 8800GTS about 3 weeks ago.

Well, you click find max core, which overclocks the core, THEN do the memory, when you get artifacts, STOP, and lower the speed.

ok ill add you mate anyway it says in the manual for atitool.........There are 2 buttons, “Find max core” and “Find max memory”, let each run for 1 hour separately, and write down what it finds as the max speed for each after an hour

blah, why are you guys trying to overclock it? You don't see a huge difference from overclocking anyway and chances are it'll create stability problems.
