The Power of 3?

NVidia has released information on something called 'The Power Of 3' what could this mean? 3 GPU's? a 3-Card SLI setup? I saw it on http://overclockers.co.uk/ theres like a grid on the page, watch the little NVidia Animation thing.

And there is this explanation
http://www.thetechlounge.com/article.php?directory=nvidia_the_power_of_3

Some think that this means NVIDIA will choose to unveil two new cards on August 11th – the 7800 GT and the 7800 Ultra. It could also mean that the full range of 7-series cards will be unveiled: the 7200s, 7600s, and the rest of the 7800 line. Perhaps this wouldn’t be the best decision since ATI is lagging behind and all of NVIDIA’s cards would be on the table; or it could be a good thing as they’d be totally dominating the market and ATI would be left an entire generation behind. Of course, none of this speculation is based on any hard facts, and to date there has been no word about any 7200 or 7600 cards or their equivalents – and yes, I’ve asked. There is also the possibility that we could see three video cards in SLI – I don’t think this is likely, and I don’t think it would make a lot of sense, but it’s still possible. Still, we’re left with the possibility that a 7800 GT or Ultra version could be released – and while we’d all love to see the Ultra, all the rumors seem to point in the direct of the GT.

naaa, i cant see 3 cards in sli ever hapening, 3 is just odd, it has ot be a nice even number, like 2 and then 4, 3 just would not be right, its daft, nvidia are going OTT now :p

tis true, dont tell me if you had more money than sense you wouldnt buy the best computer components available and upgrade weekly?! i know i would

People with money will buy anything for bragging rights these days. Imagine the benchmarks.

yes, there unfortuantly stupid if its just for bragging, as 4 7800gtx's, you would not need that power for like 6 years.

i wouldent do it for just bregging, whats point in wasitng money, i might buy 4 7800gtx's for 2 computers , if i had the money, but not one :p

Yes, your 3D Mark score is everything...NOT.

Actually, that's part of the reason 3D Mark has been dumped from the test bed. It doesn't have a relevant playing experience, where as Doom3, FarCry, and other games do.

Besides that, 4x SLI is nuts. I know some people like to have their toys, but spending $2k on one part of your system? What the hell? Can you imagine what kind of power supply you'd need for that type of power? I can see that system being $4-5k easily.

if i had a pci-e motherboard, 1 7800gtx would be good enought, in about 5 months you will be able to get a 7800gt for about same as the x800xl i want to get, cos lol, cheapest 7800gt is £280, it'll come down that £80 in the next 5 months

I'm still impressed with the pricing, you can now get it under $400 on Newegg, that's a lot of power for the price, compaired to the GTX, sure it's faster but I don't think it's worth the extra hundred or so.
I don't think any psu exists that could run 4 GTX's, a dual PSU setup would be interesting though.

Different manufacturers say different requirements but apparently the GTX consumes the same amount of power as the 6800U so that's a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. The GT however requires 350wts I belive, most anyone looking into that card would be able to pop it in without a problem I would think.
